Hi, I'm Shahrom
I build tools for expert practitioners, translating problem spaces into interfaces, infrastructure, and instrumentation.
I embed interactions into familiar workflows with user motivations as my design lens, build fast, test and validate with real users, and ship yesterday. I like solving complex socio-technical problems (global solar-server infrastructure, academic publication, design research tools, etc.) with end-to-end ownership, and love working in small teams (3-7 people).
Product engineer, trained as a computer scientist, with graduate studies in design research and educational technology. 5+ years of professional dev experience across the stack in web, mobile, systems, and games; building software for the past 13 years.
- Currently building the Material Library — an interactive collection of game design repositories for Materializing Design: a design research group at Concordia University, Montreal.
- Author of Photon and the open-source maintainer for SunBlock, building a global, distributed network of solar-powered servers.
- Previously co-founded Zelospace in London helping university students connect: designed the product, built iOS and Android apps, and hit product-market fit leading a tech team of 5.
Open to product engineering roles at early stage startups: remote / Montreal / Ottawa / Toronto / Vancouver.
